Three Bold Free Agency Predictions: Minnesota Vikings
Three bold moves that could happen in free agency for the Vkings.
The Vikings have cleared some cap space and are getting ready to, hopefully, make a splash in free agency. Here are three bold but, possible moves they can make.
3. Cut or Trade Linebacker Anthony Barr
I love Anthony Barr but, he has no intentions to restructure his deal. With that being said, I think that they are set to move on. Troy Dye and Eric Wilson or even a guy in the draft can fill in to his position and be efficient.
If they can find a suitor for Barr to add picks in the draft or depth along the offensive line then they should make a deal. If not, then they need to release him and eliminate his contract. It’ll be sad to see him go but, it’s what needs to be done.
2. Sign Guard Joe Thuney
Now, I have predicted that Thuney will sign with the Vikings and it may not sound bold but, they Vikings cap room could prevent it from happening. If they can somehow “woo” Thuney in free agency and prove that they’re contenders, he could take a slight pay cut and sign a two-three year deal with the Vikings.
1. Sign Either Shaquil Barrett or Melvin Ingram
This would be WILD. Edge rusher is a position that the Vikings will look to target in the draft but if they could land one of these two players, they could just look at offensive line with the fourteenth pick.
Barrett would be a big contract and would be tough to land but, Ingram is more realistic. Ingram is a bit more versatile with his ability to drop into coverage but Barrett is a more elite pass rusher. I would be pumped to see either guy land in Minneapolis.
