Three Dark Horse Teams Coming Into The NCAA Tournament
Here are three teams that could make a deep run in the tournament as underdogs.
Honestly, outside of the start of college football season, this time of the year is my absolute favorite. NFL free agency, the NFL Draft, the start of the MLB season, NCAA Wrestling Championships, and of course MARCH MADNESS! Here are three dark horse squads that will make a run at a National Title.
#7 Uconn Huskies: Maybe I’m biased but, probably not. Uconn is a fiery squad that bring the energy from the opening tip to the final buzzer. James Bouknight has been playing pretty unreal and is already being projected as a lottery pick in this years NBA Draft.
If teams decide to double or run a box and one on Bouknight then Tyler Polley, R.J. Cole, and Adama Sanogo can be extremely efficient. The Huskies have weapons EVERYWHERE.
Looking at the Huskies road to a title, I am super intrigued. I think they could blow through Maryland and have a legit shot at beating Alabama, who is the weakest two seed. In the Sweet Sixteen, they could face Texas who is a strong squad but, I know how tough Dan Hurleys squad is. Be on the watch for the Huskies.
#8 Loyola Chicago: A Cinderella squad from a few years ago and I think they could make more magic in this years tournament. The Ramblers blew through their conference tournament and locked up an eight seed.
A key factor for the Ramblers possible success is that Sister Jean will be in attendance. Maybe you aren’t familiar with Sister Jean but, she gained overnight fame when Loyola made their 2018 tournament run. The 101 year old nun was along for the ride as the Ramblers advanced to the Final Four. She currently lives on campus in the freshman dorms and offers advice to those who seek it out.
Loyola Chicago is led by senior center Cameron Krutwig who averages 15 points per game and has racked up 33 blocks this whole season. If Loyola can beat Georgia Tech in the first round then I think that they have a great shot to knock off the number one seed, Illinois.
#12 Georgetown Hoyas: Do not count out Patrick Ewings hard nosed group. I can definitely see a Sweet Sixteen run for the Hoyas this year. They have been on a big time hot streak and are firing on all cylinders.
In my article about possible upsets, I think that the Hoyas will beat Colorado in the first round due to the PAC 12 being a weak conference. Then, the Hoyas would most likely face the Florida State Seminoles. The Noles are tough but the Hoyas are tougher. If Georgetown can push the pace early on then they could find their way into the Sweet Sixteen.
Qudus Wahab has played great so far and I think that the Hoyas Cinderella run will continue for a few more games.
