721 days. A lot of things have happened in 721 days. A new president was elected, Tom Brady switched teams, and a global pandemic struck. In that time, the UConn Huskies also didn’t win a game.
But this past Saturday, UConn took down FCS Yale in a battle of Connecticut. Two dogs, the Bulldogs and Huskies took the field in Hartford for a BARN BURNER.
After almost two whole years, UConn finally posted more points than another squad that they lined up against. It really is amazing that UConn went this long without winning a game. I get that there was the Covid-19 year, but I don’t think that made much of a difference.
I really thought that UConn had two chances to win this year. The first being against Holy Cross in September at home which they lost 38-28.
Matthew Sluka of the Crusaders ran all over the Huskies and made their day hell.
The other game I thought they’d pull off was in the CUM Bowl against UMass. I even made them one of my weekly gambling picks with UConn -3.5 in Amherst. But NOPE, the Huskies fucked me.
UConn got beat 27-13 while Ellis Merriweather ran for days all over the Huskies lousy defense.
What I did forget was that the Huskies had one more game left against Yale. And there was no way in hell that UConn would lose to two FCS squads in one season. I mean I thought Yale would win, but that’s beside the point.
Now, it’s going to be exciting to watch the Huskies drop the rest of their games and get trounced by Clemson. But hey, one win is a step in the right direction.
