I’m writing this at one in the morning following team U.S.As win in the gold medal game against France and I’m jacked up right now.
After a dismal start to international play with losses to Nigeria and Australia, team America really heated up and clawed their way to the gold medal game against a Rudy Gobert and Evan Fournier led French team.
America won the game eighty seven to eighty two and outscored the French in the first three quarters of the game seventy one to sixty three.
The French got lots of help from center Rudy Gobert and guard Evan Fournier who both scored sixteen points in the starting lineup. Gobert also recorded eight rebounds. Off the bench, the French received help from guard Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot who tallied eleven points.
Those efforts weren’t enough to beat America though as Kevin Durant and Jayson Tatum combined for forty eight points and thirteen rebounds. Other help came from starter Jrue Holliday who recorded eleven points and five rebounds.
One whacky fact from team America winning gold was that we have the first ever mother-son gold medalists. JaVale McGee, who didn’t play in the game, and his mother Pamela McGee, who is still alive, both won gold. Pamela won with the women’s team in 1984.
God Bless America, I’m fired up. May not sleep. Kyle Snyder wrestles Sadulaev in just under six hours.
