With Andrew Janocko getting promoted from receivers coach to quarterback coach, the Vikings had an opening on their staff. They quickly filled it by bringing in Keenan McCardell who coached the Jaguars receivers from 2017-2020.
McCardell played wide out at UNLV and was drafted in 1991. He was a journeyman player from 1991-2007 with the Jaguars, Redskins, Browns, Chargers, Buccaneers, and Texans. He got into coaching in 2010 with the Redskins and has coached wide receivers in Washington, University of Maryland, Jacksonville, and now the Vikings.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Vikings brought in Sam Siefkes to be the defensive quality control coach after last season defensive quality control coach, Nick Rallis, left to coach the Eagles linebacking core. Siefkes was the defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach at Wofford from 2018-2020. Before that, he was the defensive coordinator for UW-Platteville from 2016-2017.
I’m super excited about both of these hirings especially the addition of Siefkes because, he is a young guy that can rise up in the Vikings system to a coordinator position in the future.
