Walking With An Album Part 1: The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society by The Kinks (1968)
A new series.
A few months ago on Tik Tok, I saw a user with the name andrewwaters10 start a trend where he walks while listening to one whole album. He’s listened to everything from Kali Uchis to A$AP Rocky to A Tribe Called Quest and it intrigued me. He’ll post the Tik Tok and include the album he’s listening to, how far he walked, and give his top three songs from the album.
Seeing that I’m not great at using Tik Tok aside from mindlessly scrolling on the app, I wanted to try doing this, but do it differently than uploading it in video form. I decided I’ll write about it.
Today was the first day I tried it out and it went well. I went to the old Enrico Fermi High School in Enfield, CT and walked while listening to The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society by The Kinks (1968).
The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society came out in 1968 and showcases a folk outlined sound that dips into alternative rock and funk. The band used harmonica, flute, and harpsichord to cook up the unique sound and created a masterful, fifteen track album.
