And…were back. Sitting pretty at 3-3 right now, looking to get to a positive record before the month of September ends. Here are three, sure fire picks to win you money this week that I feel very confident in.
First off, my lock of the week. I like, no no, I LOVE Boston College at home +2.5 against the Missouri Tigers.
Boston College is 3-0 right now with wins over Colgate, UMass, and Temple so this week is there first real challenge. In those three games, the Eagles defense has allowed only 31 total points.
The Eagles two quarterbacks Phil Jurkovec and Dennis Grosel have passed for a combine 602 yards and 5 touchdowns with only one interception which isn’t awesome, but their rushing attack has been solid. A cast of characters led by Pat Garwo III has rushed for 620 yards and 6 scores.
While I don’t have a ton of faith in BC’s offense, I love their defense against Mizzou. Stats don’t tell the whole story, but their defense is very stingy and could force turnovers on Connor Bazelak. The fact that BC is an underdog at home is baffling to me.
Mizzou is 2-1 with wins over Central Michigan and Southeast Missouri State, not awesome competition, and a loss to Kentucky.
The Tigers offense has been good with a total of 121 points, but man, the BC defense is fierce. I think that they’ll hold quarterback Connor Bazelak to under 200 passing yards and flat out win the game without the spread.
Lock of the week, Boston College +2.5 at home against Missouri.
Next up, I’m picking another home dog. I love Mississippi State +2.5 at home against LSU.
Mississippi State is 2-1 with a win over Louisiana Tech and an impressive win over North Carolina State. They lost a close one last week to Memphis, but I believe they’ll bounce back against the dismal Tigers.
The reason I like the Bulldogs in this game isn’t because I’m confident in Mississippi State, it’s because I do not trust LSU on the road in an SEC matchup.
They got beat by UCLA and their two other wins are against Central Michigan and McNeese State. Not super impressive.
Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers has 1,083 yards and 8 touchdowns through three games and LSU has allowed almost 600 passing yards. Like my lock of the week, I don’t think that the spread will play any part in the result.
Mississippi State +2.5 at home against LSU this Saturday, HAMMER IT.
My final game of the week is Notre Dame at Wisconsin in the Shamrock Series game, the over of 46.5.
As an Irish fan, I’m nervous about this game, but I won’t let this cloud my judgement. The Irish offense has put up 100 total points in wins over Florida State, Toledo, and Purdue so I’m banking on them putting up the majority of the points.
Jack Coan makes a huge start in this game against his former team, the Wisconsin Badgers. He’s passed for 828 yards this season with 8 touchdowns.
Wisconsin is a stingy, run first team that will try to control the clock and keep this game low scoring, but here’s where the over will come into play. Notre Dame has good defensive players like Kyle Hamilton and Drew White, but they haven’t been great as a whole.
The Irish have allowed 80 total points so I think we’ll see a 31-24, 28-24 game that just squeaks over.
Bang on Notre Dame at Wisconsin over 46.5.
