I came into the weekend with three solid picks that I really believed in and ya know what, I didn’t do too bad. I went 2-1 this week with my lock of the week hitting along with my pick of the over.
My lock of the week was Cincinnati -3.5 over the Indiana Hoosiers in Indiana, and the Bearcats covered by a good fourteen points. Cincinnati won the game 38-24.
The Bearcats were led by their veteran quarterback Desmond Ridder who passed for 210 yards with a touchdown and an interception on 20 for 36 attempts. Ridders top target was wide receiver Alec Pierce who caught 5 balls for 86 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, the Bearcats looked really good, much like their defense last season. Linebacker Deshawn Pace tallied 10 tackles and and interception. He got help from defensive backs Bryan Cook and Arquon Bush who combined for 2 interceptions and 9 tackles.
Indiana was never really able to catch stride. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. threw 3 picks and 2 touchdowns with 224 yards. His top target was receiver D.J. Matthews who reeled in 5 balls for 120 yards and rushed for 28 yards.
This was a super convincing win for Cincinnati and keeps them at number eight in the nation. All that matters though, the Bearcats won by more than 3.5.
The other game that hit for me this week was the over of 58.5 in the Alabama vs Florida game in the Swamp. The final was 31-29, equaling 60 points. BANG THE OVER.
Bryce Young hasn’t missed a beat yet and if it was going to happen, it would have been in this game. He passed for 233 yards and 3 touchdowns on 35 passing attempts. Running back Jase McClellan caught 4 passes for 41 yards and had one touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball DeMarcco Hellams tallied 11 tackles while defensive back Jalyn Armour-Davis had an interception.
For the Gators, they put up a bigger fight then I anticipated. Quarterback Emory Jones wasn’t very helpful through the air as he passed for 181 yards and an interception. Jones made a big impact on the ground though as he rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown.
I seriously contemplated betting the over of 58.5 and taking the spread of Alabama -14.5, but thank goodness I didn’t. That made me 2-0 on the weekend.
The game that I lost was one that I almost made my lock. I took Army at home -33.5 against my home state Huskies. Just missed, JUST MISSED.
Army topped UConn 52-21. A 31 point win.
There’s really no way to analyze this game other than the fact that Army fucked me. They were winning 42-0 at the half and took their foot off the gas allowing Tyler Phommachanh to rush for 2 scores.
After this weekend, I sit at 3-3 and look to get over .500.
