It’s a game day today so I don’t have much time to write, but I’m sticking to the 30 Day Movie Challenge schedule and tackling the category of The First Movie I Saw In Theaters. I had to think back to my childhood and while I’m not entirely sure if this is the first movie I saw in theaters, the one I remember is going to see Avatar on opening night with my mom and dad in 2009.
This was when the Enfield Mall was at its peak and going to the movies on opening night was hip to do. And no film had more buzz surrounding it than James Camerons Avatar. We waited in line for twenty to thirty minutes and sat in the very top row of the theater, dead center. The best seats in the house. I was blown away, or as blown away as an eight year old could be, by these blue humans battling the military. It was a RUSH.
What also is memorable about this night was right after we left the theater, my parents and I went to the Friendly’s right around the corner and got ice cream. For a kid, there’s nothing better than going to the movies, getting ice cream, and then sleeping in on Saturday. That’s what I got that weekend.
Tomorrow for day twenty of the 30 Day Movie Challenge, the category is A Great Movie You’ll Never Watch Again. Vote below for what you think I’ll pick.
